What is FUE?
FUE is a method of harvesting hair follicles. With FUE, individual hair follicles are extracted directly from the donor area using a micro-punch, which leaves minimal scarring and allows for a faster recovery period. Unlike FUT, which removes a strip of scalp, FUE is less invasive and produces a more natural-looking result.
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) differs from other extraction methods, such as FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), in the way the hair follicles are harvested. FUT is becoming less common in practice, as FUE is preferred for its less invasive nature and better results.
What is the recovery time or recovery period after a hair transplant?
The recovery time after a FUE hair transplant is minimal compared to other procedures.
Depending on the type of treatment, the recovery process usually takes several weeks.
Most patients can resume light activities within 2-3 days, but it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, direct sun exposure, and intense sweating for at least two weeks.
The initial healing process, including redness and mild swelling, usually disappears within the first month. Small scabs in the transplanted area fall off on their own within 7-10 days, and by the second wash on the 10th day, both the swelling and the scab formation will have disappeared.
Complete healing and hair growth results are usually visible within 3-12 months, with the new hair gradually becoming thicker. During monthly checkups, you will receive personalized advice about your recovery process.
